THE OVERBOARD DRIVER

Things that need to be in your delivery instructions
This is where we will fight the battle to change things folks
The next page will begin the journey into all the crazy situations that come up
And it does get crazy

"Could you make sure to use a hot bag please"
"Letting you know I placed my order at (insert time)"
"Knocking on the door, ringing the doorbell, or just a text"
"I have an outward opening screen door please don't block it"
"The name of the business you are at"
"I know about the phone relay, If I'm available I'll answer"

"Could you make sure to use a hot bag please"
This is because some drivers don't use them
even though it's in our contract we sign

"Letting you know I placed my order at (insert time)"
This is nice because then the driver can let you know what
time they received the order. So you won't ding them for being
late when it's zero their fault. Also if you have already been waiting
a little bit. It might (should) discourage them from accepting an add on delivery.
Because that will add even more time to an already behind order

"Knocking on the door, ringing the doorbell, or just a text"
BE SPECIFIC make it clear if you don't want a knock
I know we are all caught up in this high tech app culture
But when delivering something to a house
It's pretty standard practice to knock or ring the doorbell
You might miss the notification
I don't want your food sitting out in the cold forever
Assume your driver will knock unless told otherwise
But some just drop and run, so if you really want a knock
Really put it in the instructions LOL

"I have an outward opening screen door please don't block it"
Almost everyone has done it once as a newbie, it happens
And then when you leave the driver a comment
If you rated them 4 star or less, the app blocks your comment
So they never even know they did it

"The name of the business you are at"
Google maps is not as good with business address's
And business's are sometimes not numbered well
Knowing the name of the place really helps out sometimes

"I know about the phone relay, If I'm available I'll answer"
Sometimes we really need to call you about something
When we do call, your caller ID will say some crazy number
New York, Texas, or whatever
If you have an active order it's us calling

The character count on doordash is up to1,133
So plenty of room, the other apps I can't recall offhand

Plus some of the apps read out the instructions upon arrival
Make it interesting for your driver lol
