Customers who actually truly appreciate us, sometimes cause unintentional harm
Nobody's getting rich out here
The first pay we see is for the individual delivery
It's not by the hour
Were not like a domino's driver who gets an hourly pay
And then tips are on top of that
Mileage is everything for us
Tipping by the dollar amount of the order
Can really hurt your driver
Look at the distance between you and the restaurant
Your orders 20 bucks right
So that 15% standard means a $3 dollar tip right
But your 10 miles away from the restaurant
Company pay is only like 10 bucks
AND WE DON'T GET PAID FOR THE RETURN TRIP BACK INTO TOWN
So now were driving 20 miles round trip
For $13 dollars
When gas is $6 a gallon
Sorry but I have to decline your order
And We get it, even We don't want to pay 20 bucks
To have someone come out that far
But it doesn't change the fact that we have to decline the delivery due to low pay
Sorry
There is an end of week pay adjustment
To make sure we make 120% of minimum wage
But this is pretty disingenuous
You can actually hit 20% BELOW minimum wage
If you just accept every order they throw at you
We have business expenses
GAS
Extra vehicle Insurance
Vehicle Repairs
Taxs
So even 120% of minimum wage
Just does not make sense
That's why many drivers wait for the orders with big tips
The newbies take every order they are sent
And are like,
I'm making 13.95 an hour after expenses
They quit, and in come a new batch of newbies
Who just provide crappy customer service
Rinse and repeat
If folks want to keep good drivers on the roads
You might have to step up your tip game
Remember we are also going to be stepping up driver performance
