The most important thing for customers to understand
Drivers have a lot of power over the process
Drivers can decline delivery's
The apps only OFFER us delivery opportunities. We decide to decline, or accept the offer. After seeing several key details about the order
If you call customer service, and they say they will "dispatch a driver" they are flat out lying
They don't assign delivery's, they ask us
We know all of the following upfront
Customer Tip
Yep, we know it beforehand
And have no obligation to accept any order
Now bad drivers don't deserve tips
But good drivers may decline orders with no tip
Pick-up location
Every driver has at least one they refuse to go to
Rude staff, always late, or whatever
Mileage Of Delivery
You live 10 miles from the restaurant?
The app offers us $9 pay
You offered $2 as a tip
Equals unprofitable delivery
Plumas Lake, Sutter....
Round trip after expenses it's just a no go
We pay our own fuel and maintenance costs
That's why it always takes so long
They had to ask 20 drivers before somebody said yes
Deliver By Time
That will change due to variables
time driver was offered the delivery
time restaurant had the order ready
The only part your driver really controls
Is the drive from the restaurant to your house
What We Don't Know?
We don't know the time you placed the order
You may have ordered at 2pm
But the app doesn't offer it to me until 2:15
Because everyone close said no
I'm finally back in town from a delivery
So it asks me now
I have no idea it's 15 behind already
And you just think it's my fault
This typically happens on no tip orders
Now I'm thinking
How long has it been floating?
I might need to decline it based on just that
ALSO
Your driver is NOT an employee of the app you ordered through
Nor do we work for the restaurant you ordered through
We are independent contractors
Paid by the delivery, not by the hour
(prop 22 ain't all that great)
So it lowers our profit if we are purposely slow
Or have to wait around for orders at slow restaurants
Waiting 15 - 20 minutes for an order to be ready
Is the equivalent of losing a whole delivery
