Why Is Service Sub-Par
It's A Combination Of Things
And they overlap so perfectly badly
Folks, I still contract for these company's
So I have to be cautious with my words OK
Ever had a problem in the past with your delivery?
Did you leave a complaint comment explaining the problem to your driver?
Well the apps block negative comments you leave from your drivers view
Nice huh
The cycle I'm about to explain
I broke out of a long time ago
And it's why my service is awesome
But the average cycle of silly goes something like this
The driver that finally accepts your order
Well it's already been 10 minutes since you ordered
Before they even offer it to us
We're usually close to the restaurant
So we're there in like 3 minutes or less
But then we wait 10 minutes for your order
While we're waiting, the app offers us another order
Punishes us if we don't accept it
It usually doesn't fit well with the first order
But new drivers don't know any better
And the algorithm doesn't care it's going in the opposite direction
You leave a complaint the food was late, and cold
Because some drivers don't use hot bags
Shame on them
But the apps block negative comments from our view
So we never know your exact problem
We only see the 3 star rating you left
Ratings take forever to fall off
100 customers have to rate you high first
But our happy customers don't do surveys
Drivers fall below the 4.7 rating threshold quickly
Now they can't be top dashers
They can't get road time
They sign up for Uber
Leave the Yuba / Sutter area
And go work in other County's
So Whats The Fix?
So this is going to sound crazy
But sometimes crazy is awesome
Forget about reporting problems in the surveys
Unless it's a serious safety or conduct issue
Then of course report their little butts
And step it up in that situation by actually calling customer support
HOWEVER
If it's one of those unfortunate,
repetitive issues these apps seem to have
Late orders, cold food,
missing items, never got your order
Put a short mention of it in your delivery instructions next time you order
"last time my food was cold, and late"
BUT DON'T PUT THE DRIVERS NAME
I know the offending driver won't see it this time
But delivery instructions are statically placed
Unless you edit them
Every future driver will see what you wrote
And eventually the offending driver will see it
If you put the complaint in the survey
NOBODY will ever see it
Eventually drivers will start getting an idea of what our customers are having issues with
Which should begin to change driver behavior
Your gratuity's (tips) are like the best motivational speakers for your driver lol
Because the company pays offered suck
This job really depends on tips
Side Note:
Drivers know your tip before they decide to accept your order
One of the main reasons orders don't get accepted right away
So the logic is that seeing your overall complaints
Should start making drivers think
Am I doing any of that stuff?
"am I the one eating that hot pepper?"
One of the greatest bosses I've ever had on a job used to say that
Because it might not of even been the drivers fault
There's more to the story
But this is getting kind of long
Now you have a little window into what really goes on
Well, time to get back out there delivering
